Event: "Scott Craun Celebration of Life." March 24, 2012. Silent Auction, Food, Drink, Friends

In anticipation of our founder's 37th birthday (March 27) we've been putting together some very successful fundraisers this month.  Check out these three:

1.
Our "$27 before 27th" campaign surpassed its first goal in just 9 days! We'd like to thank our first donors who used this Facebook app. (and those who sent to us directly):

You guys allowed us to raise the bar with another two weeks left to go before the birthday deadline!

Folks have also donated through the PayPal button on this blog page, our PayPal account  craunfoundation@gmail.com, and by mail to our PO Box listed above. Our totals will be sent to each donor in April.

At over $1061. and growing, Leslie Hombach's contribution through her Annabear Studio has been a phenomenal hit in just a few weeks. Leslie (with the help of husband Matt) has been hand-making a line of Hawaii-themed kitchen towels and kiddie clothes called "Cones for Craun."  http://www.etsy.com/listing/92661376/kitchen-towel-cones-for-craun    (We can all use a new kitchen towel.)  80% of purchase price goes to the Scott S. Craun Foundation.

Ken Sweigart has organized a fun night in anticipation of Scotty's B-day remembrance. On Saturday March 24, we'll be holding a silent auction from 5:00 - 9:00pm at Cobblestones Restaurant, 205 S. George St., York, Pennsylvania 17401.

If you are in the area, come see some friends. Eat, drink, tell some stories, and check out our items.  Even if you can't attend, maybe you have something in mind that could be put up for bid. Contact Ken at k2@kstoolinginc.com  with some ideas for us and what we might offer. (There will be some items there fresh off a plane from Hawaii.)

In the past two weeks we've been in contact with Multiple Myeloma patients and advocates across the country.  All have said the same thing unanimously:  "Awesome effort. Important need. Go for it." Eventually, we will be getting press coverage and support from the MM community, and larger cancer cause community, and hopefully the airlines. It appears that statistically, Hawaii's MM population is roughly 200 to 400 patients. The nearest MM support group is in San Diego. Hawaii is a beautiful place and culture, but for some needing high tech medical help so specialized, it can be an isolated place.

Scott's going to be giving these folks in his shoes a lift.

March Fundraiser-- "$27 by the 27th: Fulfilling Scott's Birthday Wish"

Aloha to all friends of Scott,

We'd like to encourage you to donate $27 this month to our Foundation.  March 27th is Scott's birthday. Please read our Mission Statement at the top of this blog page (you'll find it under the picture of Scotty wrestling the kangaroo . . . actually, two kangaroos, check it out--the second one is harder to find, but it's in an equally vicious ear-lock).

It's an understatement to say Scott was grateful for our help in financially assisting him through California transplant centers. Those were rough times. But he went on to have more of his signature style kangaroo-wrastlin' adventures with the time he was given.  I know he treasured every added moment.  In that time he started this non-profit. He wanted to make sure others have his same trans-Pacific mobility, seeking the best care possible. We're going to grant that wish.

There are three ways to donate your $27:

If you haven't already had the chance to donate in 2012, March is our time! We want to see how many of us can rally before Scott's birthday on 3/27/12. (Of course, any amount is welcomed for what would be our founder's 37th birthday ;)   

At the time of this post, March 3, we have two donors for this fundraiser and a total of $64 (thanks to someone for the extra scoop!)  How many donors can we get? We'll post the numbers every week.
